Sailing to Gotland, Öland & Åland, July 15th-July28th

Sailing my Adagio 27 from Herräng to Gotland and Öland and north through the Stockholm archipelago and finally crossing over to Åland and back. 2 crew changes and the final days single-handed. Varied weather going from cold and rain to heat-wave. Great trip!

Sailing to Öland - July 2018

Sailing from Herräng to Byxelkrok on Öland in July 2018 with the lady in my Adagio 27 . Sunny warm weather, a lot of swimming to cool down, a lot of motoring. As usual, some highlights were Söderarm, Nåttaröfladen, Draget channel and the St Anna & Gryt archipelago. Great trip!

Sailing, Gotska Sandön, July 21st-23rd

For the return leg from Öland I was joined by Tommy who came by bus to Byxelkrok. We headed off in the early morning July 21st and motored our way straight into the wind all the way to Visby, Gotland. Some sight-seeing & shopping in this beautiful medieval city before calling it a fairly early night. On the 22nd, we cast off towards Gotska Sandön. The whole sea was completely becalmed, so again we motored our way all across to the island in the middle of the Baltic Sea. Plenty of algae but that's pretty common for the season and this type of weather. Gotska Sandön did not disappoint, a true gem with endless beaches and untouched forests. We did a lengthy hike and saw some 22 Grey Seals at the colony on the northern side of the island. On the 23rd, we continued onwards to Nynäshamn, gradually the wind picked up so we could sail the last 3/4 of the way. Great sailing adventure!

Sailing, Herräng to Öland, July 8th-15h

First part of this years summer cruise with my Adagio 27. We headed off from Herräng on July 8th and made our way south via Väddö Channel. Late in the afternoon, engine started to overheat, so had to make a stop at Kålö to try to fix it. Impeller had broken, but could not locate the missing wing in the hoses, so sailed to Ljusterö for assistance at the warf. All done Tuesday morning, and we continued south via Nåttaröfladen, Draget channel, Ringsön, Älö and accross Kalmarsund to Grankullavik.

Sailing, Öland to Herräng, July 20th-29th

Return cruise from Northern Öland to Herräng, Singöfjärden.. Covered a fair distance first 2 days, then slowed down as I passed Oxelösund.. In Nynäshamn I picked up Tommy for 2 days before continuing solo again from Stavsnäs.. Fantastic sailing through beautiful scenery with great summer weather..

Sailing, Herräng to Öland July 9th-15th

6 days of cruising from Herräng west of Grisslehamn to Nabbelund, Northern Öland. Varied and unstable weather and most of the wind from south-west. Company by the lady first half of the trip and then singlehanded the final 3 days.

Cycling, Southern Öland, March 26th

Easter cycling on southern Öland, making a 80 kilometer lap on a sunny but somewhat chilly day.. Starting at Mörbylånga and doing a clock-wise run via the Långe Jan lighthouse at Ottenby.. Nice tail wind last hour certainly helped..

Mtb, Öland, June 20th-23rd

Brought the bike to Byxelkrok where we celebrated the Midsummer weekend and had time to take a couple of rides on the regular trails.. Rocks, sand and flat and fast forrest routes is always relaxing..

Mtb, Northern Öland, April 7th

The weather changed during the night, and 1-2 inches of snow brought back the winter.. Perfect conditions to clear the head, so I headed south from Byxelkrok down to Byrums Raukar.. From there, crossed to the east side of the island at Böda Sands camping, and then headed north on White Prick's trail, before closing the loop back to Byxelkrok..

Mtb, Northern Öland, April 6th

Day 1 of eastern Mtb on Northern Öland, making a loop up to the lighthouse and back to Byxelkrok.. Several sections did not have trails but the terrain is fairly forgiving.. Great fun to discover new routes..

Mtb, Öland, 21st & 22nd of April

Two solo rides on northern Öland with Byxelkrok as the usual starting point.. Amazing, summery weather despite being in mid-late April.. The rocky beach on the west side offers lots of technical challenges and the sandy White Prick's trail on the east side down towards Böda Sands Camping was a blast as usual..

Kayaking, Öland, April 2nd-4th

Spent Eastern at Byxelkrok on Northern Öland and made two short kayaking trips, premiere for the season.. On the first day all of the ice was gone, but then it came back, blowing in from up north.. Pretty cool to navigate between fairly large chunks floating around and to paddle through fresh, thin ice from the night before..

Kayaking, Byrum, Öland

Drove to Byrum's raukar on the north-western side of Öland to paddle for a few hours.. First headed south in head winds that made for slow and bouncy progress.. At the turning point there were nice and fairly big surf waves in which I played around for a bit before turning back north again, pushed forward in a brisk pace with tail winds..

Kayaking, Northern Öland, May 22nd-23rd

Two more half-day paddles on May 22nd and 23rd.. First one from Byxelkrok south to Byrums Raukar on the north-western side of Öland, second session on the north-eastern side of Öland from Böda hamn first south for a bit and then northbound up to the white sandy beaches..

Kayaking, Northern Öland, Sweden

Half-day paddle on Northern Öland in a Feathercraft Big Kahuna borrowed from Avanza Kayak in Älvsjö for a possible purchase.. A light and nimble little kayak of a much higher quality than other foldables I've paddled previously.. Sunny but not hot pre-summer day with a breeze that picked up gradually and gave some moderate waves..

Cyclecross on a wintery Northern Öland

2 Days ago it was cold and windy, but with crisp and dry gravel roads.. I had plans for some fast hiking-trails but yesterday afternoon the white fluff started falling from the skies, and this morning it was a very different landscape.. Settled with a fairly short, about 30 kilometers, but still rather challenging ride on snowy roads.. Lots of fun! :-)

Cycling, North-Western Öland, 2nd of Jan

First ride of the year, heading south from Byrums raukar on the North-Western side of Öland.. A few degrees below freezing point and a rather chilly north-western wind.. Followed scenic, winding gravel roads to Äleklinta and then turned north at Vannborga.. Back to the car via a pizzeria in Långerum, total distance aprox. 86 kilometres..
