XC-Skating, Stentjärnarna, Nov 14th

Great start of the new XC-skating season! Via a flight from Arlanda to Östersund, an overnight at my brother, 2 hours driving to Flatruet and then 1.5 hours hiking over the mountains, we reached Stentjärnarna for some nice skating on a crisp and cold winter day.. Hoping for a cold winter in Sweden with moderate snowfalls!

Hiking, Anarisfjällen, July 2nd-4th

With another old friend getting married later this summer, we met up for a couple of days of socializing in Anarisfjällen, Jämtland.. I arrived a bit late, so I missed the helicopter transport and hiked up from Tossåsen, which was not bad at all.. Mostly sunny weather, good fun, edible food and great views..

Skiing, Jämtlandsfjällen, 27th-30th of April

Headed up in the northern mountains of Jämtland for some social activies.. Mostly sitting still or playing with snowmobiles, but there were also some time for skiing and taking in the beautiful scenery.. Still plenty of winter up there, despite early spring in the rest of Sweden..

Mtb, Jämtlandsfjällen, Aug 24th-26th

Drove with two friends, Erik & Tommy, up north for a planned 2-day ride in Jämtlandsfjällen.. After staying at a hostel in Ljungdalen Friday night we kicked off the mtb ride from Kläppen on Saturday morning.. Up above the treeline and onwards to Helags mountain station for a coffee break.. Wonderful, flowy trails to the hut in Mieskentjakke and then mostly hiking over a mountain pass until we reached Sylarnas mountain station for a late lunch.. We continued towards the goal for the day, Storulvåns mountain station, fantastic and fast trails.. Halfway there I crashed hard in a downhill run, got some bruises, hit my head a bit, but most of the force was taken by my right shoulder so the collarbone snapped.. Hiked 8 kilometres to Storulvån mountain station to get some care by an ambulance crew and after staying the night there we got a ride around the mountains back to our car and headed home..

Hiking, Oviksfjällen, 19th-20th of July

Hiking in Oviksfjällen with my brother Trond and my nephew.. We started in Höglekardalen on Monday and headed up the mountain to the peak of Falkfångarfjället and set up our tent camp next to a mountain hut.. on Tuesday, we took another route back down to the valley via Drommenskåran..

Mtb, Jämtlandsfjällen, 17th of July

Mtb day ride in Jämtlandsfjällen with my brother Jon.. Starting from Storulvån, heading to Sylarna and then via Gåsån back to the starting point.. Route was about 45 kilometres but we added a few more in the end by bad map reading skills.. Still loads of splendid cycling though, with several long flowy sections that made the bumpy uphill struggles worthwhile..

Hiking, Storulvån-Sylarna, July 1st-2nd

A 2 day hike in Jämtlandsfjällen with the lady, from Storulvån to Sylarna and back, some 32 kilometres.. Very warm and sunny, luckily a mild breeze made it bearable.. we camped with nice views of "Templet", "Slottet and "Storsylen" pretty near the mountain station.. Mosquito-season in full force.. Sore feet were cooled in streams a few times..

Mtb, Jämtlandsfjällen, 1st-4th of August

Another ride in Jämtlandsfjällen, this time with entry from the south side, Kläppen in Ljungdalen.. The rough plan was to head north-west past Sylarna and then head west into Norway, south again and then follow Sylsjön back towards Helags and then return to the car.. But the weather turned pretty bad, loads of rain and fairly windy, and at Sylarna the back tyre ripped apart by sharp rocks, and I didn't have a spare tyre, only patches and an extra tube.. So I had to walk back to Kläppen with the unusable bike, some 32 kilometres.. Still a nice weekend though..

Mtb, Jämtlandsfjällen, 19th-22nd of July

A long weekend ride in Jämtlandsfjällen, Saturday to Tuesday.. Brought rather spartan camping gear that to some extent dictated route selection as the weather was mixed with some wind and rain.. Started in Storulvån in the late afternoon, first camp south of Blåhammaren, continued towards Sylarna via Enkälen, second camp at Långtjärnen.. On the third day I rode on towards Gåsån mountain station via Storforsen but turned back north when the weather took a turn for worse.. Third camp close to the Gåsån shelter. On the forth day I rode back to Storulvån, finishing the ride at around noon..
