Mtb, Järvafältet, Stockholm, 17th of April

Mtb ride on Järvafältet with around a dozen other people collected from the Happymtb.org forum.. Wide range of bikes, from cyclo-cross, singlespeed 29'er to hardtails, FS Mtb's and AM bikes.. Trails were varied as well, and it was a lovely warm sunny spring day.. As usual, we finished at Helenes Fik which never dissapoints..

Happy BBQ ride, Hammarby-Rudan, Aug-30

A Saturday ride with close to 30 people from the Happymtb.org forum, starting at Hammarbybacken in Stockholm, following Sörmlandsleden section 1-4 past Alby friluftsgård and Tyresta to Rudan in Haninge.. Great weather, probably one of the very last summer days.. Varied mix of trails with plenty of roots and stones, short sections on gravel or asphalt, some pretty steep and hilly sections, and a few really nice "rock surfs" with a nice flow.. We finished off with a with a nice BBQ in Rudan, a great day!

Mtb, Fornstigen, Sweden

Saturday ride with my brother on Fornstigen on Lovön.. Hard to get tired of this very varied trail.. Cloudy skies but no rain, about 5 C, pretty muddy and slippery on some sections that required some extra effort.. Slow pace with a couple of stops along the way, lunch at the regular half-way rock.. Back at the cars at 1 pm..

Mtb, Sicklaskiftet, Sweden (Sunday 9th)

Another 2-hour session on Sicklaskiftet, mostly on the central and northern side.. A lot wetter than yesterday so more slippery and a lot more mud, but still I had a better flow and fewer near-crashes.. Finished with grinding to the top of Hammarbybacken again..

Mountainbiking, Bogesund, Sweden

Sunday ride with 4 others from the Happymtb forum.. Start at Bogesund Castle, for a varied and very entertaining mix of different trails with some transport sections on gravel roads which was a nice opportunity to re-charge a bit.. We left the parking lot at 10.45 and was back again at 15.15, and by then I felt pretty much spent so it was a good work-out..

Mtb, Tal-Blata, Malta

Rode from Sliema via Pace Ville and Ras il-Qrejten to Tal-Blata, the area east of Mellieha, north-east of Xemxija.. Really nice and varied terrain for mountainbiking, stone and gravel trails, dirt trails, and old salt-pools hacked into the rocks next to the sea that were great fun to play around in for drops and jumps.. Beatiful views.. With all the elevation up and down it is pretty strenous to bike around there.. Went up to the peak with Fort Campbell and then back down again.. Fell over handlebars and on to the side a few times as usual, but no major damage or me or the bike.. Ride back to Sliema included the regular milkshake at Bahar, ic-Caghaq Bay..

Mtb Daytrip: Sliema, Gozo, Popeye Village

A full day on the bike in nice November weather, around 20 C and sunny.. Left Sliema 8.30 AM and headed on the main road towards the ferry to Gozo.. After espresso and cake I headed over to the smaller sister island and zig-zagged my way towards Ramla Bay on the north coast, a very pretty beach I wish I had visited while it was still summer and warm in the sea.. Back on Malta I found a couple of new challenging trails and passed Popeye Village, the settings of one of Robin Williams early movies.. Riding on a few more dirt roads up on ridges I headed home again, back in the flat about 8 hours after leaving it..

Mtb Ride to South-Western Malta

Did a 5 hour ride on Saturday from noon. Leaving Sliema and passing Naxxar and Mosta before heading into the green Qleigha Valley with a nice little trail.. From there I steered on bumpy back roads towards the Dingli Cliffs on the South-Western coast and then north to Barhrjja and Mgarr where I stopped for an espresso and sandwitch.. Was good to take a break as I was pretty worn out by all the steep climbs and the Camelback was empty too.. Probably around 25-26 degrees celcius under the sun.. After the brake I aimed homebound to Sliema in eastern direction, made a few wrong turns but got it right in the end..

Afternoon Mtb ride on Malta, Sep 23, 2006

Friday afternoon trip from Sliema to Mdina to Bugubba and back to Sliema via Ghallis Rocks and Ras il-Qrejten. First ride after upgrading with new front fork, hydrodiscs, thudbuster and some other things. Great fun both on asfalt roads and trial-play on bumpy rocks and dusty red paths. With temperatures now fallen to the 25-30 C range biking is less strenuous than earlier in the summer..

Day ride on Mtb, Malta, Late May 2006

Rode west and southwest of Sliema on Malta on a daytrip with hot weather for the season. Lunch stop with rabbit stew in Mgarr. I think it is Mdina up on the hill on the last picture. Views of the unpopulated south-west side of Malta. As can be seen on the serpentine road picture, parts of the island is pretty hilly and fairly challenging to ride on bike..
