Sailing, Stora Risten, May 21st-22nd

Pre-summer sailing with the lady, Saturday 21st-22nd. Anchoring for the night at a little island next to Stora Risten.. Shifting winds, mostly from south, partially cloudy on Saturday but in the evening it cleared up and the archipelago was magically beautiful.. Some exploration with the little dinghy on Sunday morning, before heading back south via Korsskären and over Singöfjärden..

Nordic Skating, Nynäshamn Archipelago, Feb 28th

Spring is around the corner but still some great ice is to be found, this sunny Sunday me, Emil and Ricky headed to the Nynäshamn inner archipelago and covered some 36 kilometers with partially challenging conditions..

XC-Skating, Näkten & Locknesjön, Dec 26th

A perfect morning of cross-country ice skating with my brothers Jon & Trond, heading out before sunrise to Lake Näkten.. After some days of warm weather, the cold finally made it back and the ice firmed up for great conditions.. Happily back after a perfect run we added a short loop on Locknesjön, where open water set the limits..

XC-Skating, Lake Tämnaren, Uppland, Dec 19th

9 Celcius in Uppsala for the last day or two, but 50 kilometres north lake Tämnaren delivered a magical solo-session with blue skies and silky-smooth ice.. I took the whole lap along the shoreline, with ice thickness around 35-50mm and just a few section which required some extra care..

XC-Skating, Ånnsjön, Jämtland, Nov 15th

Day 2 of the "Hunt for ice" adventure in Jämtland.. After internet scouting and some fresh reports on forums, I headed to Ånnsjön with Rolf and my brother Trond.. Certainly the thinnest ice I've been skating over larger distances, pretty exciting and lots of fun! Some scratches and bruises, but well worth it!

XC-Skating, Stentjärnarna, Nov 14th

Great start of the new XC-skating season! Via a flight from Arlanda to Östersund, an overnight at my brother, 2 hours driving to Flatruet and then 1.5 hours hiking over the mountains, we reached Stentjärnarna for some nice skating on a crisp and cold winter day.. Hoping for a cold winter in Sweden with moderate snowfalls!

iSup, Gisslaren, Nov 7th

A lap on the beautiful wilderness lake Gisslaren in Northern Uppland on the Kona Cruiser iSUP.. Late autumn and fairly chilly but with the drysuit still quite enjoyable..

Sailing, Singöfjärden, May 30th-June 1st

First sailing weekend with the new Bellona 23.. On Saturday afternoon we left the harbour in Uddhamn after a couple of hours of work on the boat.. We motored up to the southern lee side of Lambskär and stayed the night.. On Sunday the sun was shining and the wind was blowing with a fresh breeze, so great conditions to try out the new sails and get familiar with the characteristics of the hull..

Kayaking, Northern Archipelago, Sweden

Weekend paddle from Fejan in a north-eastern loop with two twin-seaters.. Sunny but fairly chilly.. Mellow pace between the rocky islands with plenty of time for eating and siestas.. Tent camp on high grounds with great views.. Didn't spot any seals but plenty of ferries..

Mtb, Sicklaskiftet, Sweden

Spent about 2 hours zig-zagging around on the numerous trails on Sicklaskiftet.. It was a mixed bag of surfaces ranging all the way from completely dry on sunny spots, to slippery stones and roots, deep mud holes, to ice-covered rocks and water puddles.. Despite (or because of?) a lazy pace I had a couple of proper skids that tested the spd exit reflexes.. Finished off with pedaling up to the top of Hammarbybacken to get some leg burn and heart rate going..

Mountainbiking, Sörmlandsleden 1-2, Sweden

An afternoon ride on Sörmlandsleden 1-2.. A few degrees above 0 and the trail was wet and muddy after a couple of days of rain and snow.. With a few bruises and a slight cold, I took it slow and easy.. Stopped on the way back and cooked a late lunch and coffee.. On the last way back it was pretty dark so I tried the new set of lights, that worked ok-ish.. Pretty fun to be out in these conditions, but cold feet in the end and the bike looking like a gritty mess afterwards is the downside..

Mountainbiking, Fornstigen, Lovön, Sweden

Drove to Drottningholm where I parked the car to try out Fornstigen on Lovön for the first time, a 18 kilometres long trail that passes cultural and historical sites along the way.. Turned out to be one of the best I've ridden on mountainbike.. Most of the way you get a really nice flow in the riding that suits well for a singlespeed.. Some sections are on gravel roads which is nice to catch your breath.. A great Sunday morning that was finished off with coffee and hotdog..

Kayaking, Lake Mälaren, Sweden

A 5 hour kayaking trip on Lake Mälaren on a nice autumn day.. Pretty windy but aviodable by staying on the leeward side of the islands.. Went from my regular starting point on Kärsön north up along the east side of Lovön, and then turned back south past Drottningholm.. Saw plenty of swan-families.. As usual, when kayaking in Mälaren, I had to take care in channels and sounds as plenty of motor boats are speeding in a rather reckless way..

Mountainbiking, Hellas-Sörmlandsleden, Sweden

Went out on my Kona singlespeed for a couple of hours in the area close to where I live.. Tried a couple of trails on "Sicklaskiftet", some others in the area close to Hellasgården and then finished on Sörmlandsleden section 1.. I still have to get off when it is steep uphill and on the more technical sections, lacking strength in my left leg and being wary of having a fall.. But it's getting better for each ride, hope to be in pretty decent form within a month or so..

Kayak Surfing, Torö Stenstrand, Sweden

With a force 5-6 wind coming in from south-west, it's best to make good use of a sunny day and head to Torö.. I wasn't the only one that had the same idea, the rocky beach was full with sea sport enthusiasts.. Most of them were windsurfers, a fair amount were kite-boarders, a few were regular surfers and then there was me, the only one with a paddel.. As usual when the surf waves are high, I had a couple of un-planned swims but it was great fun and a decent work-out.. Although entering the kayak on slippery stones in a rough sea with a weak left leg is hard, it didn't make much difference out in the waves..

Kayaking, Gräsö, Sweden

Kayaking on Sunday at the west side of Gräsö in the northern archipelago.. Out for a couple of hours, nice weather, fairly choppy waves that bounced back from the cliffs, several hidden shoals that forced a couple of unplanned stops.. On one of the pictures "Forsmark 1, 2, 3" can be seen on the other side of the sound, a bit unusual to have nuclear plants in the scenic photos.. First run with an improvised new seat made with old frame+silver tape and lots of foam pads, worked well..
