Mtb, Green & Blue Trail, Hellas, April 18th

Mtb ride in Hellas on the Green and Blue trails, together with 4 other guys from the Happymtb forum.. Nice spring weather on mostly dry rocks and roots, mixed with a couple of properly muddy sections.. Had a few OTB's but no major bruises.. Fairly swift pace with few longer stops except for when Ubu got a puncture and gear wrapped around the wheel at the same time..

Kayaking, Öland, April 2nd-4th

Spent Eastern at Byxelkrok on Northern Öland and made two short kayaking trips, premiere for the season.. On the first day all of the ice was gone, but then it came back, blowing in from up north.. Pretty cool to navigate between fairly large chunks floating around and to paddle through fresh, thin ice from the night before..

Snowboarding, Åre, March 20-27th

Snowboarding week in Åre, Jämtland.. Stayed in a cabin with brother Jon and a couple of his friends and altough most of the riding was in the ski slopes, we had a few days with nice offpist runs, on the backside of the Åre mountain and in Duved.. Was my first time on a board in 10 years but luckily the abilities quickly came back..

Mtb, Hellas, Stockholm, 9th of Jan

A sunny cold winter morning in early January, about -14 C on the thermometer and we had plans for mountainbiking in the forrest areas around Hellas.. Turned out to be a great day with excellent trails with packed snow, not unbearably cold and of course a lunch stop for Gulasch soup.. We took a short section on the "Green" trail, another on the "Yellow" trail, and then a loop on the Sickla side before calling it a day..

Mtb, Hellas-Sörmlandsleden, 20th of Dec

With Christmas just around the corner we headed out into the forrests south of Hellasgården and with the heavy snowfalls the last couple of days progress was slow and mostly by foot.. Great fun though, especially on the downhill sections.. Hoping for lots of fun mtb rides in 2010 as well!

MTB, Järvafältet, 12th of December

A Saturday ride on Järvafältet with about a dozen people from the happymtb.org forum.. Sunny, temperature around zero, partially very muddy, and we visited a couple of really nice trail sections I hadn't seen before.. The biking ended (and started) at the Helénes Cafe at Bögs gård for Gulasch soup and plenty of coffee..

MTB, Haninge-Paradiset, 28th of November

Happymtb-ride with 6 other guys in the Haninge-Paradiset area on Sörmlandsleden stage 5, Sameslingan and perhaps some other trail sections.. Rain fell hard in the morning before we started so roots, rocks and footbridges were quite slippery and the rest of the trails were quite muddy.. Great fun altough I was zapped of energy the last half-hour or so..

Mtb, Fornstigen, Lovön, 22nd of Nov

Got out of bed at 0700 on a Sunday morning for the first longer ride on the new/rebuilt mountainbike.. At 0800 I left the parking lot at Drottningholm for the regular counter-clockwise lap on Fornstigen.. Many sections were quite muddy, and it was the sticky kind that makes progress hard, slow and twitchy.. Still a nice morning and the Single-Speed Hardtail with serviced fork felt reliable and nimble..

Cave Crawling, Klövbergsgrottan, Nov 15th

Joined a group with the lady to get wet, dirty, bruised and cold; the activity is called cave crawling and the site was Klövbergsgrottan in Tyresö.. The place did not disappoint, with some 362 meters of tunnels and chambers, containing "spider rooms", "art rooms", sliding slippery slopes and various types of sharp rocks and stones and water dripping from the roofs.. In all, a great Sunday afternoon that was finished off with hot dogs on an open fire as darkness fell together with a soft rain..

Kayaking, Adelsö, Mälaren, October 18th

Suberb conditions for late autumn kayaking in Lake Mälaren.. Paddled around Adelsö anti-clockwise together with Emil in about 6 hours with a lunch-stop half-way.. Mostly sunny and moderate winds, where we had shelter on the northbound sections and nice tails winds on the southbound section.. This late in the season there are hardly any disturbing motor boats, but one has to take care with the cold water temperatures..
