Sailing to Måssten, 22nd of July

Sunday sailing with brother Jon, to the island Måssten, a former coastal artillery base.. The cannon turrets are nowadays removed, with the holes filled with concrete.. The sea-charts shows non-existent under water rocks at the entrance to the small inlet, probably to scare off civilians from going ashore back in the days of cold war..

Sailing to Öregrund, 13th to 15th of July

Sailing with the lady from harbour in Hensvik on Friday evening, to Brännäset where we stayed the first night.. Had forgot to bring both sleeping bags as well as cutlery but we managed anyways.. Continued north-bound on Saturday up towards Öregrund where we stayed for the night next to Kalvö.. Sunday morning greeted us with heavy rain which continued the whole day.. We motored back and enjoyed the shelter in cockpit under a tarp..

Sailing to Brännäset, 31/6-1/7

Weekend sailing with the lady to Brännäset where we anchored for the night in a nice bay.. Mostly sunny, fair winds, relaxing and fun.. First swim of the year so I guess it's finally summer..

Sailing, Singö Round Trip, June 10th

Daysailing with Emil, taking the full lap around Singö.. Shifting weather, from calm to fresh breeze, some rainshowers, some distant thunder, some sun and some scattered clouds.. From the harbour in Herräng we sailed under the higher bridge at Riddarskäret, which we cleared with probably less than a meter.. Then north past Stor-Skarpen, west through Ellasströmmen, south on Norrfjärden and Singöfjärden, and then back to harbour.. Distance covered was around 44 kilometers..

Sailing, Singöfjärden, May 26th

Daysailing for a couple of hours on Singöfjärden with Tommy.. A fresh breeze made for a sporty ride.. Great day and in the end I learned how not to handle mast wire tensioning as well..

Sailing, Långgrundet, 19th-20th of May

 

Weekend sailing with Carin.. On Saturday we headed out from the harbour in Herräng and cruised up north with a light breeze to Långgrundet where we anchored in a nice little cove.. Tacking back south on Sunday, wind shifted between calm and fresh breeze, another sunny day..

Sailing, Singöfjärden, May 13th

I bought a little sailboat yesterday, a 17 feet "StorTriss MK2", and today we went on our first sailing with the helpful guidance of the former owners.. A lot to learn but great fun, looking forward to a great summer with the new toy!

Kayaking, Södermanland, April 21st-22nd

Weekend kayaking trip solo in Södermanlands archipelago.. Headed out on Saturday morning from Aspö, south of Studsvik, grey skies, 2-5 degrees celcius.. Leisurly pace in a loop to west and then south.. Found a scenic camp site on Kittelö, with lagoon-like protection from the waves.. Sunday I continued south-west and rounded Lökholmen and then worked my way back to the starting point against the wind.. Plenty of bird life, very few people, nice start of the season!

Mtb, Northern Öland, April 7th

The weather changed during the night, and 1-2 inches of snow brought back the winter.. Perfect conditions to clear the head, so I headed south from Byxelkrok down to Byrums Raukar.. From there, crossed to the east side of the island at Böda Sands camping, and then headed north on White Prick's trail, before closing the loop back to Byxelkrok..

Mtb, Northern Öland, April 6th

Day 1 of eastern Mtb on Northern Öland, making a loop up to the lighthouse and back to Byxelkrok.. Several sections did not have trails but the terrain is fairly forgiving.. Great fun to discover new routes..

Mtb, Fornstigen, March 31st

Mtb on Fornstigen with Erik in challenging conditions.. Sticky mud combined with slippery snow, April weather in end of March.. A few punctures, slow progress, good fun..

XC-Skating, Erken, 10th of March

Short XC-skating session with Jon on Lake Erken, north of Norrtälje.. Been warm a couple of days so unfortunately the ice was soft and covered with plenty of water.. Shame, nice site otherwise..

XC-Skating, Båven, 22nd of Jan

Not nearly as good conditions as previous skating trips this year, as there was now a fairly thick layer of snow on the ice.. Still, nice to see lake Båven which is supposed to be one of the best for this sport in Sweden, and it does show some promise.. Distance was very short, but we managed to have a "fika" just when the sun showed itself for a few minutes during the day..

XC-Skating, Tämnaren, 15th of Jan

XC-Skating with my brother on lake Tämnaren north of Uppsala.. Great ice, hardly any wind, nice area.. Total distance covered was 30 kilometres, with a combat-style lunch break at 15 kilometres..

XC-Skating, Gisslaren, 8th of Jan

Sunday skating on lake Gisslaren with brother Jon.. A few degrees below freeing, almost no wind, and perfect ice conditions.. This lake is a bit smaller than Vällen, but with more wilderness feeling, no houses and much fewer fellow skaters.. Distance was about 17 kilometres..

XC-Skating, Vällen, 7th of Jan

Finally, after a very delayed winter in Stockholm area, we could go cross-country ice skating today.. Myself, Jon & Emil went to Vällen, about 100 km north-east of Stockholm, and the conditions were superb.. 5-7 cm of mostly clear ice, mostly sunny, a couple of degrees below freezing.. We covered about 35 kilometres on the northen and southern part of the lake, with a few stops for coffee and lunch.. Great day, hoping for many more!
