Early morning rock climbing in top rope solo style in one of my favourite crags in Malta - iX Xaqqa, Ghar Lapsi. Nice to avoid the strong sun and be back in the hotel by breakfast time.,

Solo Climbing, Penya Ginesta, May 9th

For the first climbing session in Spain, I went to a crag called Penya Ginesta. After some scouting above and below I found a suitable anchor. Nice easy route with solid holds. I used my favourite setup for top rope solo, GriGri for abseiling and Camp Lift + MicroTraxion for ascent. I now bring a second Camp Lift with a screw gate and 120cm sling as escape system, lighter and more compact than a Jumar with ladder sling. Stunning views from this rock down towards the beach and sea.

Top Rope Solo, Wied Qirda, April 18th

A nice hike through Wied Qirda past the “Tomb of the English Lady” to the Sphinx Buttress crag where I did some laps on a route with an easy accessible anchor, climbing with the top rope solo equipment..

Sunday top rope solo climbing in Mgarr Ix-Xini on Gozo.. This is a really beautiful canyon with lots and lots of routes for all levels, and only a short walk down to the bay for a swim and lunch afterwards..

TRS, Xaqqa Valley, Jan 24th

Top rope solo session on a fairly windy Sunday morning in Xaqqa near Ghar Lapsi..  I tried a Micro traxion + GriGri on single rope setup, did not like it. Of course it is easier to switch to rappel, but a a lot of extra hassle on the way up with pulling the rope through the GriGri..

A short top rope solo rock climbing session on Djävulsväggen, Gåseborg. After one hour on very easy routes, rain and thunder started rolling in and I had to call it a day..

Top Rope Solo Climbing, Fullbroberget, April 21st

An after work rock climbing session on Fullbroberget, southwest of Stockholm.. It’s a nice cliff in scenic surroundings, around 30 meters high, with easy routes that suits me well for top rope solo.. I use a Camp Lift + Micro Traxion for ascending, and a Shunt+ ATC for descending.. If I’d need to offload the rope or get up without regular climbing, I have a Jumar and rope ladder ready in the harness..
