Even a modest V+ route need respect, especially on chossy limestone and after heavy rains. I was only between bolt 2 & 3, could have been worse, did not fall or hurt myself. But I’m  glad I used an alpine butterfly knot on the 2nd bolt, in case the ground anchor or rope would have been more damaged or cut due to the falling rock..

Sailing Hobiecat, Castelldefels, April 29th

Taking a Hobiecat for a spin up and down the beach in Castelldefels with Guilherme in a nice breeze with some fun gusts. First time for him on a dinghy and he learned very quickly. Been missing sailing, always nice to get out on the water.

Lead Rope Solo Climbing, Castelldefels, Feb 12th

Today I had my first lead solo climbing session after reading up a on suitable equipment and techniques. I picked an easy route in a scenic crag above Castelldefels south of Barcelona. This also had twin bolts at the bottom of each route which made it easy to set up the bottom anchor. I used the GriGri as main device, the MicroTrax for rope management, and backup knots for extra safety. All in all it went well, I don't think I made any major misstakes. With some practice, this will open up a lot more crags for solo climbing.

Inline Skating, Playa Castelldefels, April 17th

Summer feeling in Playa Castelldefels, heading out on the inline skates for the first time this year.. It's a very nice area for this, with mostly nice asphalt on flat ground.. 

Hobiecat Sailing, Castelldefels, June 7th

Rented a little Hobiecat 15 and we enjoyed 2 hours of fun sailing along the beach in Castelldefels. Great summer day!

Solo Climbing, Penya Ginesta, May 9th

For the first climbing session in Spain, I went to a crag called Penya Ginesta. After some scouting above and below I found a suitable anchor. Nice easy route with solid holds. I used my favourite setup for top rope solo, GriGri for abseiling and Camp Lift + MicroTraxion for ascent. I now bring a second Camp Lift with a screw gate and 120cm sling as escape system, lighter and more compact than a Jumar with ladder sling. Stunning views from this rock down towards the beach and sea.

A casual 2 hour paddle on a rented board at the beach in Castelldefels south of Barcelona.. A nice workout, it’s been a few years since last time, but once I found my balance, I could power up a bit..

Two hours of kayaking on a little rented sit-on-top along the beach in Castelldefels south of Barcelona. Some fun waves from a gentle breeze gave opportunities for small surfs close to shore. Decent workout under a strong sun.
