Top Rope Solo Climbing, Ix-Xaqqa, April 10th

Solo climbing and belaying Kamilla in the Ix-Xaqqa ravine in Malta near Ghar Lapsi. The hardest route of the day was “Motor Psycho”, a 45 meter 6B+ where especially the first part is rather flat and slippery.

Top Rope Solo, Corona Wall, April 2nd

A longer point of view video while I climb top rope solo style on a crag near Ghar Lapsi in southern Malta. A lovely sunny day on April 2nd 2021. This place is a little bit tricky for TRS because it is a long hike around if your rope gets stuck or you don’t manage the climb back up to the abseiling point. I always carry a jumar with ladder just in case, but not a problem so far.

TRS, Xaqqa Valley, Jan 24th

Top rope solo session on a fairly windy Sunday morning in Xaqqa near Ghar Lapsi..  I tried a Micro traxion + GriGri on single rope setup, did not like it. Of course it is easier to switch to rappel, but a a lot of extra hassle on the way up with pulling the rope through the GriGri..

Ghar Lapsi Outdoor Sports Day, Aug 9th

An active Sunday afternoon in the Ghar Lapsi area on southern Malta, where we scrambled down a steep canyon, did some sea-bouldering, freediving and later a hike to an old tower with great views..

Freediving, Ghar Lapsi tunnel, Aug 24th

A few laps through a tunnel at Ghar Lapsi, Malta. Entry from the lagoon is around 2 meters deep and the exit probably around 8 meters deep. Not sure about the length but perhaps 15 meters? Good idea to scout as much as possible, popular passage with scuba divers, and meeting them in the tunnel could be tight. Also, avoid if the waves are on-shore as the water can them pump back and forth in the tunnel..

Free Diving, Ghar Lapsi Malta, Oct 2nd

Some casual free diving/snorkeling with Samuel at Ghar Lapsi on Malta, Sunday afternoon October 2nd. The tunnel is a nice swim-through, ending at around 5.8 meter depth.. The GoPro housing leaked so probably destroyed, but at least the memory card survived..

Sportsclimbing, Southern Malta, Sept 20th

Trying to get back into climbing so headed to southern Malta with the guide Kurt and tried out routes in Wied Babu and Ghar Lapsi area.. 33 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity took its toll but luckily we had a steady breeze to soften the blow a bit..

UW photography, Ghar Lapsi, Malta, 31st of May

Playing a bit with the water proof pocket camera, while spending a day of lazy sunbathing at Ghar Lapsi on the south side of Malta.. Found a few small jelly fishes even though its still early in the season.. They look harmless but can give pretty bad burns.. The silvery fishes swam around at ankle depht in this little lagoon with clear water..

Bouldering, Ghar Lapsi, Malta

On the hillsides above the restaurants at Ghar Lapsi, there are several routes for sports climbing and traditional climbing, but also the possibility to try lots of sections for bouldering.. Especially in and around the shallow caverns that are spread out on the hill side, there are plenty of choices, both very easy and much harder sections.. Superb weather, like a Swedish summer day, a strong breeze that cooled us nicely..

Trekking, Ghar Lapsi, Malta

I drove to Ghar Lapsi to do some kayaking but instead went for a walk to an old watch tower and back along a trail following the sea.. Sunny and warm with a nice SW breeze.. Might try the same route on mountainbike later, although it would mean dragging/carrying the bike quite a bit. Not much of an adventure really, but a nice Mid-January day anyways..
